Emme Hensel
Our soloist on 9 March 2024
Emme Hensel received her ATCL flute diploma at the age of 13 and enjoys both solo and ensemble playing.
As a soloist, she has performed many recitals, most recently as a soloist at Romsey Abbey.
Emme has performed in masterclasses, and had lessons with, Sir James Galway, Robert Winn, Robert Manasse, Kate Hill, Adam Walker, Andy Findon and Rachel Brown. Successes include wins at Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth music festivals, Young Flute Player International Championship (adjudicated by Sir James Galway), Beaulieu music award and the Syrinx flute competition.
Emme also has considerable ensemble experience in a range of genres. Her orchestral experience includes former principal flute of National Children’s Orchestra, principal flute of Hampshire County Youth Orchestra and performances with Wessex Sinfonietta. Later this year, Emme is looking forward to performing with Nova Foresta Classical Players.
She is also the piccolo player for Hampshire County Youth Wind Ensemble. Since playing piccolo with them and performing a world premiere, with piccolo specialist Peter Verhoyen, she has been inspired to explore the instrument further. Having been on tour to Sweden and Denmark with the Wind Ensemble in 2022, Emme is looking forward to touring Spain and France this summer with The Hampshire Flute Coir and County Youth Orchestra. She is also principal flute of Romsey Youth Concert Band, sings in many choirs and plays piano for Hampshire County Jazz Orchestra and school ensembles.
In her spare time, Emme enjoys art, singing, and composition, which she has won various awards for. In the summer, she is looking forward to attending the Oxford International Flute Summer School Masterclass Course.
Emme is very excited to be performing Reinecke’s Flute Concerto with Solent Symphony Orchestra
